Blashford

Decent sunny day but really the first noticeably chilly start.

Just a couple of Buzzards en route.

After Bob's Blashford Blog entry regarding the absence of Walter White and the suggestion that his days may be numbered - surprise surprise - there he was on the southern shore of Ibsley Water, for his thirteenth winter. As the day wore on he relocated to the north end and then the spit at times close to both Little Egret and Grey Heron. Rings present and visible from Tern Hide.

Under 75 hirundines mostly high and distant - amazing that Bob had 1600+ early in the day, presumably all now very high and dispersed over the valley. Raptor wise just single Red Kite and a few Buzzards and on the wader front three Ringed Plover, two Dunlin and two Common Sandpipers.

Over 230 Cormorant were, at times, very active with a dozen or more Grey Herons, so lots for fish to be frightened of!! Sadly no Osprey today.

Still a little early for interesting gulls.

Highlight of the day were three Garganeys which were distant and which I'd quite honestly not seen as they were hunkered down asleep on the edge of an island - thanks to Rob Hume for finding them. Photos below were when they were at their closest!!
