Some periodic ramblings about bird, butterflies, moths, dragonflies, hovers and anything else that pops into my head.

Nil day
A 'nil day' today starting with a jaunt out to garden centres for plants plus an al fresco coffee with 2-3 pairs each of House Martin and Swallow plus a noisy Nuthatch. On the outward and return journey a Buzzard crossed the road skimming the ground, presumably the same bird.
A leg stretch round the pond area was pretty fruitless with just 7-8 Lesser Black-backs, the usual Cettis and three remaining Moorhen chicks; sadly no Reed Warblers yet so presumably they won't be nesting this year.
This miniature Crane Fly sat up - Ptychoptera contaminata.
The small amount of Marsh Marigold is going over but the Yellow Flag Iris has flowered very quickly since last week.
Also one of yesterday's mini Slow Worms.
