You never know what you're going to find..

Centaurea montana

After some shopping chores, a BB&C in the cathedral garden with glorious weather, the female Peg sat out watching her brood from above and was later joined noisily by the male; a Med Gull over and two Holly Blues.

Quick chat with Tony on RSPB Peregrine Watch and a stroll around the Bishop's Garden which was quiet and green and relatively short of people; a Goldcrest was taking food or nesting material up into the big conifer and a Swift screamed overhead.

Back home a local stroll produced the Cetti's, all cocked tail and attitude and lots of Myathropa florea but precious little else when this beauty (above) popped out and posed - Didea fasciata - a new hoverfly for me - pretty chuffed with that!!
Several Holly Blues were spatting with a few Speckled Woods and some rather worn looking Andrenas were sunbathing; the swans have six cygnets.
