One week into 30DWiJ..

Another totally overcast summer's day with the occasional light shower.
Parking permit renewed where, amusingly,  'R for Russell' became Mr Arthur Russell very nearly😁😁

Along the road edge, up by the aggregate dump, the roadside just prior to the underpass and the path verges on the west side, 500 (estimate) Common Spotted Orchids. Other expected species were numerous Garden Chafers and Zygaena trifolii (Five-spotted Burnet Moth), courtesy of John Langmaid's experience, some Burnet Companions but no butterflies other than worn Common Blues. A few moths kicked up included Crambus lathionellus and Agapeta hamana. This sawfly below appears to be Macrophya annulata .

Probably 40+ Med Gulls over the field below Butser with another similar number further south - sadly one hadn't mastered hawking over a busy road and was lying freshly dead in lane one. About 30 or more Swifts to the north and just a single Mistle Thrush.

Too overcast, and damp at times, for any insects around the pond.
